This week’s blog post is focused on how to increase the number of sign-ups for your webinar! With remote working being such a huge part of our lives nowadays, businesses are seeking new ways to promote themselves and stay relevant during a global lockdown. And, what best way to do it but to engage new and current customers through interactive, captivating, and informative webinars. More and more businesses are beginning to see the benefit of utilizing digital tools to directly engage with their audience. But it can be tricky motivating people to register and actually show-up on the day of the ‘event’. No need to fret! Below, you can find several constructive tips on how to increase the number of sign-ups for your virtual webinars.
1 – Choose the right topic!
This might seem like a no-brainer to many, however, don’t underestimate the importance of picking the right topic that will engage your audience. If you’ve read our previous post on “The Benefits of Blog Writing”, you’ll understand the value in selecting a topic that speaks directly to your target audience. As it was stated in the blog post, you want to select a theme that specifically addresses your audience’s concern or promises them something special. They’re essentially taking the time out of their busy schedules to participate in your webinar, and therefore they want to make sure that they are getting something valuable out of it; whether they’re actionable tips, the knowledge that is of interest to them, or maybe even just forming a new connection.
- In addition, when advertising your webinar, you might want to use some power words or stats in your title in order to lure in and spark interest in new and old customers.
2 – Easy-to-use registration page
One way to make sure people are more willing to sign-up, is to facilitate the registration process by making the page easy-to-use, simple, and straight to the point. If participants are forced to fill-out all the slots on the page and provide an endless amount of information, they will be less motivated to do so and more likely to quickly lose interest.
- You can also use Facebook messenger as a way to promote the virtual event and to get people to sign-up. The platform also sends automated confirmation messages as well as reminders to those that have expressed curiosity.
3 – Send a reminder on the day of
Do not forget to send a reminder on the day of the event. You can do so via email, text message, or direct message (using social media platforms). People lead very busy lives and, unless reminded, are most likely to forget that they have signed-up for an online webinar. Sending an email, or through whatever medium of your choice, several hours before the event will give participants enough time to organize themselves to be present, and to make the necessary arrangements when the time comes.
4 – Be strategic when selecting the time and date
A lot of businesses tend to overlook this aspect, but the right time and date can be a deciding factor for many individuals. Consider the time zones in which most of your customers live in, as well as their typical working hours. You want to avoid having the event start during regular working hours, as that can decrease the number of participants. You might also want to avoid weekends, people tend to already be busy during those days.
5 – Present the option of an ‘add-to-calendar’ function
As I have previously stated, people tend to be busy and forgetful at times, which is why adding an ‘add-to-calendar’ function can be beneficial in ensuring optimal attendance. Because people have a lot of different tasks they need to handle simultaneously, they often like to prepare themselves ahead of time by checking what they have planned for the week or the following day.
6 – Implement interactive tools in order to increase engagement
The traditional webinar can occasionally be boring, which is why participants tend to get distracted, leave the meeting earlier, or use it as a form of background noise. Ideally, you want to use interactive tools that allow people to be engaged at all times and make the most out of this opportunity. For instance, allowing participants to ask questions, either at the end or throughout the event, can keep them constantly active. Other options you can employ to increase engagement are surveys, quizzes, and polls. The latter also allows participants to view other people’s opinions regarding a topic and such information can be of use to your business, as you can analyze it to pivot your strategy for the next webinar.
We understand it can be hard motivating people to partake in webinars, however, there is no need to lose hope. By just employing some of the tips listed above, you can greatly increase the number of registrations and customer engagement for your upcoming webinar. Hope this helps and good luck!
